IKMIA history

 

IKMIA (Ikatan Keluarga Muslim Indonesia Amerika di Atlanta) formed about 6 years ago based on the consideration of the need for Indonesian ​muslims routine gathering 'silaturrahim' ​​in Greater Atlanta and surrounding areas. Starting with a small group of people gathered whom happened to have free ​schedule on Sundays​. It was started by a routine Islamic study and Al Qur'an recital (pengajian) ​once every month from member's house to another member's house.

The founder of IKMIA consists of few names ​such as Bapak Hadi Tresna Lopes, Bapak Frank Tokamaria ​and Mas Arief Setiawan.

Bapak Hadi ​Tresna and Mas Arief Setiawan still active as founders and ​advisers. ​​Alhamdulillah, Brother Dr. Azaibi Tamin also agrees to become adviser, knowledge resource person and ​teacher to date.

Over time IKMIA ​actively participated ​​​through​ volunteering at events such as the August 17th Indonesian Independence Day Festival​​ or Spring Festival, ​​took part in the annual bazaar (vendor for fundraising) and organized Halal Bihalal during Eid's day festive and feast.
